For many years, we have treated cancer with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. But lately, immunotherapy—treatment that uses the patient’s own immune system—has grown in importance. Adoptive Cell Transfer (ACT) is a therapy that collects and uses patient’s own immune cells to treat their own unique cancer. There are several types of Adoptive Cell Transfer therapies, but the one closest to approval by the FDA is called CAR T-cell therapy. At Aurelius Biotherapeutics, we are on the cutting edge of these and similar therapies for use on our canine patients. To learn more about CAR T-Cell therapy, read this excellent article by the National Cancer Institute. For more about the process at Aurelius Biotherapeutics, click here.
